What is SFTP ?

FTP is used to transfer files between two remote systems.

SFTP is SSH File Transfer Protocol or Secure File Transfer Protocol.

It is a different protocol packaged with SSH which works similar to SFTP but over a secure connection.
It provides a secure connection to transfer files and browse the filesystem on both local & remote system.

SFTP is preferable over FTP because of security features.
