How to Make a Partition in Windows 7 ?

Simple steps to make a new partition

1. Go to Control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer management

2. Click on Storage -> Disk management.

3. Right click on the drive, which you want to sub-divide and choose Shrink volume...

4. It will open a dialog "querying shrink space" while calculating the size figures.

    It will show Total size before shrink, Availabe shrink space etc.

5. Enter amount of space to shrink in MB and click button "shrink".

    For example, Your Total size before shrink is 50 GB and Availabe shrink space is 40 GB.

    If you enter 1024 (MB), it will make a new unallocated partition of 1 GB and leave the existing drive with 39 GB.

6. The newly created unallocated partition will be created with the required size.

7. Right click on new partition, and choose "New sample volume".

8. On the wizard, click next.

9. On next screen, do not change anything. Just click next.

10. Assign any drive letter to new partition, and click next.

11. On asking of new drive format, Click to format the new partition.

12. At last, check the new partition in My computer.
