Making new partition in unallocated area
While installing fresh Windows 7 OS, leave with 3 partitions :
1. Primary partition : Partition to be used for installing windows.
2. System reserved : Fixed space (100 MB) partition reserved for system activities.
3. Unallocated space : Collective space reserved for all other drives.
After installing windows, make the partition from the unallocated space :
1. Right click on My Computer icon and choose manage.
2. Click on Disk management.
3. Choose Unallocated area, and click New simple volume.
4. Simply click Next in wizard.
5. Provide the partition size in MB. [ example: Provide 102400 for 100 GB ]
Note: remaining space will be considered as Unallocated space)
Click Next.
6. Choose a drive letter and click Next.
7. Choose for formatting of drive (to be created) with NTFS file system and Full / Quick format.
Click Next.
8. Click Finish.
It will format the newly created and partition and mark remaining space as unallocated space.
You can then further partition for more drives from the unallocated space.
